Favorite things to do: I love to swim and be near the ocean. Watching my two sons surf and swim and become watermen has been one of my greatest joys. My crazy little Jack Russell terrier Lucy is also a great joy… sometimes ;)
What are you looking forward to to start the year: I love meeting my new bunch of students every year. Every year I tell my class they are the “best class ever”... and every year I truly mean it. The students are what I look forward to!

Favorite Things to Do: Spending time with my family and animals, traveling to new places, hiking in the mountains or anywhere in nature, reading and learning new things every day.
What are my goals this year? Stay positive and grateful for the people surrounding me, work hard to support my students and their families and remember to enjoy the little things in life.

Years Teaching/Años de Maestra: This will be my 15th year teaching. My 6th year at Monroe. Este será mi 15 año como maestra. Este es mi sexto año en Monroe.
Favorite things to do: I enjoy exercising, crocheting, doing puzzles, and playing card games with my family, and riding my bike in town with my kids.

My goals this year are to strengthen my technology skills, establish a fun and positive environment for my students, provide support to my students and families, and stay healthy.

Years Teaching: This is my 25th year teaching. My 12th year at Monroe.
Favorite Things To Do: Explore the trails and parks of the SY Valley, Go to the gym- before Covid, now go to my garage gym. Camping, hiking, traveling, swimming. Hanging out and going to concerts with my husband, and playing fetch with my cats.
What are my goals this year? Stay positive and healthy, build a strong classroom community, support my students the best I can and take time for myself.
If I’m not at school or home where might you find me? Relaxing on my deck, on the trails of the local park, or at the beach.
2nd Grade
We are looking forward to a wonderful year with the second grade students. We have many exciting enrichment activities planned for this year including field trips and outreach programs.
For example: the Museum of Natural History, Stowe House, Santa Barbara Art Museum, Nature Trek and guest speakers in the classroom.
During our Language Arts time we use the Open Court curriculum, which explores the following themes: Sharing Stories, Kindness, Look Again, Fossils, Courage, Our Country and It’s People. Three research projects will highlight the integration of all of our studies.
Students will develop writing skills through the genres of Narrative, Informational, and Opinion formats.
In Math we will be studying number sense, adding and subtracting to 100, committing to memory addition facts to 20, place and value of 2 and 3 digit numbers up to 1,000, mental addition and subtraction, problem solving involving money up to 100, measuring time and money, geometry, fractions, foundations of multiplication, exploring odd and even numbers and arrays, using the Envision Program, Context For Learning, Engage NY, and Math tasks created by the state of Georgia.
Families Now and Long Ago, Market Place, Land and Water Resources and People Make A Difference are the themes we will cover in our Social Studies Curriculum.
Research and experiments are an integral part of our science curriculum in the areas of Solids, Liquids and Gases, Pebbles, Sand and Silt and Interdependency of Insects and Plants.
Students participate in group projects and presentations within the classroom, as well as collaborate with other classes during differentiated learning times.
It will be an exciting year of learning, exploring, and making friends!

Name: Rosalyn Tomblin

Favorite things to do: Hiking, camping and backpacking to escape crowds. Going to a show at the Santa Barbara Bowl or another cool venue. Hanging out with family and friends. Spending time relaxing, walking or playing on the beach.

Years Teaching: 23 years as an educator. 15 years in Kindergarten and 8 years in upper grades. 17 years as a Mustang!
Favorite things to do: Go into the wilderness backpacking, travel to new places, play volleyball or kayak at the beach, spend quality time with friends and family.
What is my goal for this year? To dive deep into my practice (classroom), exercise regularly, find balance and happiness in all I do. Reach all of my students and help them find the light in these difficult times!

In my garden, walking the bluffs or paddle boarding the coast.

Years teaching: This is my 5th year teaching, 4th in SBUSD
Favorite Things to Do: Some of my favorite things to do are to travel, dance, sing karaoke, cook new and favorite dishes, be the best auntie, and spend time with my families and loved ones.
What are my goals this year? My goals for this year are to put my positive pants on and accept each challenge with a smile and creativity. While this year is already proving to be challenging, I can see inspiration and motivation flowing out of educators and soon we will be able to see and share that with our students.

Name: Cory David Cordero-Rabe
Years teaching: This is my 5th year teaching at Monroe.
Favorite Things to Do: I love to play and watch sports, make and listen to music, and to bbq and relax with my family in my yard. I also love to eat delicious food!
What are my goals this year? My goals this year are to inspire my students to continue to explore their passions and to teach kids to work hard, even when they don’t want to.
If I’m not at school or home where might you find me? You will see me riding my bike down by the beach, or at a concert with my wife.
