Library Welcome
Do you and your child want to look for a favorite book in the school library while at home? Click on the library catalog button below to search for a Monroe library book. You can even search by reading level. Mrs. Burnworth, our library technician, is always eager to show students and parents how to do a catalog search. We have books in English and Spanish.
Library Hours
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Checkout Policy
TK, Kindergarten, 1st Grade 1 book for 1 week
2nd & 3rd Grades 2 books for 1 week
4th, 5th, 6th Grades 2 books (1 additional for reports) for 2 weeks
Parents are welcome to check out books with a library account. To set up an account, please visit the library before
school.
Library Activity Calendar
Adopt a Book fundraiser on Back to School night at Monroe (other fundraiser for the library is a Chaucer’s Bookstore fundraiser)
Author-Go-Round, for 5th & 6th graders, hosted by the County Education Office in January, where students meet
children’s authors and learn how they became published writers.
Read Across America Day, in March. Guest readers read to the students. Please contact your child’s teacher if you
would like to read to the class.
Battle of the Books, for 4th, 5th, & 6th graders, hosted by the County Education Office in April. There is a Battle of the
Books club at Monroe. The library has a current list of books to read for the battles. (Click here to view current list)
Book Week Give-Away two times a year in Room 26. Students get to choose one or two gently used books to take
home and keep. If you have books at home your children no longer read, please donate them to the library for Book Week
Give-Away.
California Young Reader Medal votes due in May. Monroe students vote for their favorite of five nominated books.
