Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M)

Monroe School is proud to launch a dedicated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program beginning in the 2024-25 school year, a dynamic addition made possible through district and state funding. Housed in a newly established, fully equipped STEAM room, our program is designed to deliver developmentally appropriate, California standards-based instruction at every grade level, ensuring all students engage in rigorous, hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

A cornerstone of our STEAM initiative is our partnership with the renowned Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy, which provides our credentialed STEAM teacher with ongoing professional development. This collaboration ensures that instruction is both innovative and aligned with the latest best practices in engineering education, further strengthening our commitment to high-quality, standards-based teaching.

Each grade level’s STEAM curriculum is intentionally aligned to the California Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and integrates core content areas to deepen student understanding and real-world application. Our credentialed STEAM teacher leads instruction, ensuring lessons are engaging, accessible, and tailored to the developmental needs of all learners.

Additionally, our program is committed to equity and inclusion: students with extensive needs receive additional STEAM classes to support their overall growth and well-being. Each spring Monroe STEAM will  student projects at our Monroe STEAM Showcase. As our STEAM program grows, we look forward to expanding opportunities for all students to explore, create, and excel in a collaborative, future-ready learning environment.
