The Santa Barbara School Districts established a Special Education Parent Advisory Committee in 2011, which is consistent with recommendations made by Fiscal Crisis Management and Assistance Team. The advisory committee looks at a wide range of topics including: curriculum development, fiscal planning, parent concerns, due process, legal rights of parents, the role of the site principal in special education, the role of the parent in the IEP process and general parent training.
